Picture a hotel pool in August. Packed. Kids running around, sun absolutely hammering down. Someone in the queue realises they forgot their sunscreen in the room. They're not going back up 12 floors to get it. They're not paying €25 for a tiny bottle at the pool bar. So they just... don't bother.

That happens thousands of times a day at pools, beaches, water parks, and golf courses around the world. And for a long time there was no good solution to it.

Then someone built a machine that sprays a full-body coat of SPF 50 in about 10 seconds. Touchless. Mess-free. Safe on clothing. Card payment. No staff required. And according to one Rosewood hotel that installed one — it drove a 31% revenue spike on their pool deck and became their most talked-about amenity.

That machine is called SnappyScreen. It's been operating in the US for a few years now. Outside North America, almost nobody has one. That's the opportunity.

How it works

The SnappyScreen is a self-contained weatherproof booth. You walk in, press start, and it sprays you with a fine mist of SPF 50 sunscreen in about 10 seconds — covering face, arms, legs, all of it. The formula is lab-tested to be safe on clothing. Payment is contactless. You get a real-time dashboard showing usage data from wherever you are.

It's not a vending machine in the traditional sense — you're not buying a bottle. You're buying the application. Which is a completely different product with a completely different price point.

The machine can also be co-branded for the venue — a hotel pool puts their logo on it, it becomes an amenity rather than a vending box. That's a meaningful distinction for how venues perceive it.

The market

The global sunscreen market is worth nearly $14 billion in 2026 and is growing at around 5% per year toward $22 billion by 2035. The cosmetics vending machine market — which is where this sits — is valued at $1.8 billion in 2025 and growing at 9.5% annually, projected to hit $4.1 billion by 2034.

The skincare segment leads that market with a 34.2% revenue share — driven by exactly the kind of impulse, on-the-go purchase this machine enables.

And the social angle is real. SnappyScreen's own data shows that partner venues generate millions of organic impressions from guests posting about the machine. One video at a Rosewood hotel hit over 1 million views in 48 hours. The machine is inherently content — people film themselves using it and post it without being asked.

Two ways to make money

💰 Revenue from sessions

You charge per use — typically $5–10 per session in the US market. At a busy hotel pool doing 50 sessions a day, that's $250–500 daily revenue from one machine. Monthly: $7,500–15,000. Costs are primarily the sunscreen formula restocking and your location fee.

🤝 Venue placement deals

Some operators place the machine at no upfront cost to the venue and split revenue. Others charge a monthly placement fee plus keep all session revenue. Both work depending on how much negotiating leverage you have with the venue.

The real margin: Sunscreen formula costs a fraction of the per-session charge. The bulk of what you collect is gross margin. The machine does the dispensing, the venue does the marketing by simply having it there, and you collect the revenue remotely.

Best locations

Hotel pools and resorts — the obvious first choice. High foot traffic, guests who are already in sun-protection mode, and management who love amenities that generate content and reviews

Water parks and beach clubs — captive audience with nowhere else to go and sun exposure as the core activity

Golf courses — golfers spend 4+ hours in direct sun and buy sunscreen regularly. SnappyScreen specifically mentions golf as a target vertical

Outdoor festivals and events — summer events, music festivals, sports venues with outdoor seating

Theme parks — long days, direct sun, families who forgot to pack enough

Why this works outside the US right now

SnappyScreen has been running in the US for several years. It's well established at luxury hotel pools, country clubs, and resorts. Outside North America — Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia — it's almost completely absent.

The demand is identical. A pool in Spain or Greece in August has exactly the same problem as a pool in Florida. A golf course in Portugal gets exactly the same sun as one in Arizona. The machine exists, the concept is proven, and the international market is essentially wide open.

Getting in early in your region means you're not competing with anyone. You're just placing machines and collecting sessions.

The machine

SnappyScreen by SNAP Wellness Only supplier

The original and only commercial touchless sunscreen application machine available at this scale. Weatherproof design tested for extreme climates from desert to tropical. Built-in data tracking system (SSDTS) lets you monitor usage in real time from anywhere. The SunStyles sunscreen formula is lab-tested by Ecolab to be safe on all clothing. Pricing is quote-based — you contact them directly and they work out a placement deal or equipment purchase depending on your situation. They have a wholesale and venue partnership programme specifically for this.

The US figured this one out a few years ago. Luxury hotels there now list it as a featured amenity. Guests post about it. It drives cocktail sales at pool bars because people feel comfortable spending time outside once they're protected.

In Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia — one machine at the right hotel could be the only one for hundreds of kilometres. That's not a gap in the market. That's the market.
